Accrington Stanley Football Club play in the third tier of the English Football League – Sky Bet EFL League One.

The Reds were promoted back to the Football League in 2006 after winning the Conference title, 44 years after the old club resigned from the Fourth Division in 1962.

Under the guidance of John Coleman the club were crowned League Two champions in the 2017/18 season, winning promotion to League One for the  first time after 12 seasons in the fourth tier.
