Match Report

Stanley celebrated their biggest win of the season as Sean McConville scored the goal of the season.

The Reds hit five past relegation haunted Leyton Orient as they ran riot in the final 10 minutes.

It was Stanley’s third successive win and takes their unbeaten run to seven games as they eased their relegation worries.

John Coleman’s team had to be patient after an end to end start to the game, with Omar Beckles and McConville going close without testing Charlie Grainger in the Orient goal.

The visitors posed most of their threat on the counter attack and felt they could have had a penalty when Gavin Massey tangled with Harvey Rodgers in the area.

But the breakthrough came for the Reds when Billy Kee put them ahead in the 44th minute, heading home his 13th goal of the season from inside the six yard box from McConville’s left wing corner.

Matty Pearson continued his impressive run of goalscoring form, grabbing the second with McConville again providing the assist from a free kick six minutes after the re-start.

Orient looked to claw themselves back into contention and Marek Rodak had to race off his line to stop Josh Koroma making it 2-1.

But the night would belong to the hosts and specifically to McConville, who grabbed the third on 85 minutes, cutting in from the left and firing home from 20 yards into the top right corner but his fourth a minute later was extra special.

The winger got the ball on the edge of the centre circle almost immediately from the restart and chipped it over Grainger, the ball going in off the underside of the crossbar – great vision from McConville.

And the former Chester man added a third assist in stoppage time, threading a pass down the left for Pearson to slide home his eighth goal of the season in injury time to make it high fives for the Reds.
