Scholar Nathan Wolland give us an insight into the U18s pre-season tour to Holland…

Today we had breakfast at 8 as today’s sessions were at NAC FC Breda. We boarded the coach at about 9:30 and headed for Breda.

One we got there we headed straight to the training pitch where we were put through our paces by the NAC Breda coaches. The session involved passing drills, possession and a game before some skill drills. The skill drills session was at a high tempo in preparation for Saturday’s game vs. PSV Eindhoven.

The lads then had a talk from former professional player and NAC Breda’s academy director Tim Gilissen, he gave us an insight into their academy and how it works. The academy is very similar to what we have in our academy at Accrington, working with age groups up to U19.

We were then given a sneak peek tour of NAC Breda stadium which has a capacity of around 18,000 people which was impressive. Once we returned to the hotel, the boys had an education session filling out their booklets with the LFE this was followed by match analysis of the game vs FC Twente.

The day was then rounded off with a taster of traditional Dutch food supplied by our tour guide, Tom. Once again opening our eyes to the rich Dutch culture.
