Jordan Clark and Billy Kee were on target as Stanley celebrated a 2-1 Boxing Day win over Shrewsbury which moved them up to ninth in the League One table.
Stanley got off to a stunning start with just 30 seconds on the clock when Clark raced into the area, made space for himself and fired into the bottom corner of the net.
The winger joined the Reds in 2016, following his release from the Shrews, and it was his second goal in two games.
Stanley dominated the opening proceedings and it was two on 21 minutes when striker Kee got the ball in the area off Clark and flicked home his eighth goal of the season.
The Shrews tried to get back in it with Greg Docherty firing wide but they were restricted with the Reds defence standing firm.
Stanley pressed before the break with Clark shooting straight at keeper Steve Arnold after a quick breakaway and Connor Hall’s deflected effort only found the side-netting.
Josh Laurent had a great chance to get the Shrews back in it in injury time but his close range header was off-target.
Clark almost doubled his own tally immediately after the re-start but Arnold did well to deny him from a tight angle.
The Shrews were awarded a penalty when top scorer Fehiri Okenabirhie was judged to have been brought down by Callum Johnson, much to the outrage of the home fans. Oliver Norburn fired past Connor Ripley to get the visitor’s back in it on 52 minutes.
Ripley then superbly pushed the ball away to prevent an easy tap-in for Norburn as the Shrews looked for the equaliser.
Stanley almost restored their two-goal cushion when Clark got the ball to the centre of the area on 62 minutes but once again Arnold denied him and the Reds couldn’t force the ball home in the resulting melee.
Alex Gilliead came on on 73 minutes for Shrewsbury and came close with his first touch, firing across the goal and just wide, while Sean McConville was denied by Arnold and Offrande Zanzala fired wide with the Reds celebrating the win.
