Jordan Clark has one target after signing a contract extension – to score more goals.
The winger scored three goals last season – two in the cups and a winner against Plymouth in the league – but he wants to get into double figures in the new campaign.
“I have high expectations this season,” said the 23-year-old, who has signed up until 2019. “I got three goals last year and the aim is to improve on that and get into double figures. I want to deliver.
“I signed before the first week last season and it was hard as I didn’t know many of the players, there is a big difference for this season.
“I have had a full season here and a full pre-season and we have got through it together.
“A two year contract secures my future, it makes you feel more settled and I am in the process of buying a house in the area. It means you can just focus on football and not worry, as you might with a one-year deal.
“I certainly won’t take anything for granted and, if anything, I will work harder as last season I did have a couple of games where I didn’t play and there is nothing worse than watching and not playing football. When you don’t play, it gives you a kick up the backside.”
Clark is hoping to help Stanley go one further than last season where they narrowly missed out on the play-off places.
“Last season was enjoyable but obviously it was disappointing towards the end when we came so close but didn’t quite make it. Hopefully we can go one better this season.”
