Accrington Stanley have broken their season ticket record as they look forward to a successful 2016/17 season.

The club’s previous record was 678 ticket sales in the 2009/2010 campaign but, with still three weeks to go until the new season starts, the Reds have sold more than 700.

“We are delighted with how the season ticket sales have gone,” said Managing Director David Burgess.

“It’s a new era for Accrington Stanley with the club making big strides off the pitch under new owner Andy Holt. Work has gone on all over the ground to make it a better spectator experience at Stanley and it will be continuing over the coming season.

“Meanwhile manager John Coleman is hoping to go one better than last season and is assembling a squad which can hopefully secure automatic promotion after reaching the play-offs in May.

“It is an exciting time to be involved with the club and we are pleased people are responding to this.

“We hope more will fans will come through the turnstiles. The fans are always superb but, after the huge numbers which came to the Wham Stadium for the run-in last season, we know what a difference to the atmosphere the extra numbers can make.”
