Wycombe were a penalty shootout from League One at the end of last season when they suffered the narrowest of defeats to Southend United in the play-off final at Wembley.

The Chairboys had finished fourth in League Two, a dramatic turnaround from the previous campaign which had seen them avoid relegation only on the final day.

This season their aim must have been to go one better than in 2014/15 and they find themselves in play-off contention again ahead of their trip to the Wham Stadium.

Following a distinguished playing career at all four levels of English football with Preston, Wimbledon and QPR, Gareth Ainsworth became a player-coach at Wycombe in 2011.

The former QPR caretaker boss was handed the reins at Adams Park in September that year and steered the club away from relegation before hanging up his boots after his 600th career appearance.

Ainsworth successfully kept the Wanderers in the Football League thanks to a final day victory in 2013/14 season and followed it up with an outstanding campaign which culminated in a play-off final at Wembley.

Having made his first Premier League start for QPR at Liverpool in 2012, Harriman became one of Gareth Ainsworth’s first loan signings as Wanderers manager, playing 20 times for the Chairboys the following season.

After loan spells at Gillingham and Luton, he returned to Adams Park and was meant to be there until January.

The versatile 23-year-old then saw that move made permanent and he’s been a virtual ever present this season, scoring six times.

Stanley returned to winning ways against Plymouth at the weekend and will look to make it back to back victories against the Chairboys.

The victory over the Pilgrims was  first in five and proved timely to keep the Reds in the automatic promotion hunt.

They remain fifth in the table, five points from third.

The Chairboys have won two of their last five matches as they’ve looked to climb into a play-off place.

Their last six matches have ended 1-0 with goals proving to be at a premium.

Ainsworth’s side are eighth and out of the play-offs but just one point.

Matt Crooks is added to the injured list with an ankle problem sustained against Plymouth.

He’s waiting for scan results to establish the extent of the damage.

All the other injured players won’t be ready, with Josh Windass targetting the weekend for his return and Dean Winnard likely to have to wait until the end of the month.

Joe Wright could be out for the season but there’s better news on Terry Gornell who may be available within a fortnight.
