Accrington Stanley star Matty Pearson took time out this week to visit children at St Marys Primary School in Sabden.

The defender took part in a question & answer session with the children and tried his hand at a new sport! For the past five weeks the children aged 7-11 have been getting active with Stanley FC Trust staff as they learn the basics of handball. This week was the last session before the ½ term break; all the children received certificates for their efforts signed by Matty himself and they also received a ticket voucher for them and a parent to come down and watch a home game this season.

The community trust’s Sport Development Officer Lee Walsh would like to thank Matty for getting involved ‘it’s always good to get the players involved with our work in the community and the children always enjoy their visits, lads like Matty are great role models for these children and hopefully it will inspire them to continue playing sport and also come and watch Stanley in the future’.

Talking about the visit Matty Pearson explains ‘it’s always good fun to get out in the local schools and meet the children, hopefully they will go home talking about Accrington Stanley and it’s great that they might come down to a game soon to watch us play’

All at Accrington Stanley Community Trust would like to thank Matty for coming and getting involved.
