New Stanley signing Brad Halliday is hoping to gain plenty of experience during his loan spell at the Wham Stadium.
The full-back joined on an emergency loan from Middlesbrough yesterday and believes Accrington Stanley is the perfect place to continue his footballing development.
Halliday made six appearances for Hartlepool United earlier this campaign and spent the second half of last season at York City, featuring 25 times for the Minstermen.
Reds’ boss John Coleman threw the Boro loanee straight into the side for Tuesday’s defeat at home to AFC Wimbledon.
The full-back said; “I thought we started off really well in the first twenty minutes and looked positive.
“We gave a couple of silly goals away at an important time and that is what cost us the match.
“It was a difficult start for me, playing against players as strong as Adebayo Akinfenwa and Lyle Taylor up front for Wimbledon, but I feel I have started well for the club.”
The move was completed very quickly and just in time for Halliday to make his debut on Tuesday evening against the Dons.
“I didn’t know much about the move until it happened to be honest. After I had trained on Monday morning with Middlesbrough I was called to the office to sign the paperwork and came straight down to Accrington.
“I’m here to get some first team football under my belt. The gaffer’s brought me straight into the team, which I’m very happy about, and I couldn’t really ask for much more to be honest.
“It would have been great to start with three points, but other than the result it was a good debut for me personally.”
Games come thick and fast in League Two and Coley’s men have the opportunity to move back into the play-offs places again with a win over Dagenham & Redbridge.
“We’ve got a chance to put things right on Saturday and I believe we will respond well and get back to winning ways.”
