The club have been very successful since their formation, winning four promotions in a decade. They spent one season in the Isthmian First Division, winning the title in the 2004/05 season.

They then spent three seasons in the Isthmian Premier Division and won promotion after beating Stains Town 2-1 in the play offs in the 2007/08 season. The Dons then made it back to back promotions by winning the Conference South title in the 2008/09 season.

They spent the following two seasons in the Conference Premier, before being promoted in the 2010/11 season after beating Luton Town on penalties in the play-off final after finishing in 2^nd place in the league.

The club have then spent the last four seasons in League Two and finished in 15^th place last season.

Neal Ardley was appointed AFC Wimbledon manager in October 2012 following the departure of Terry Brown. He joined the Dons from Cardiff City, where he had been Academy Manager since 2007.

Wimbledon were Ardley’s first club as a player and, as a winger and occasional right-back, he made almost 250 appearances for Wimbledon between 1991 and 2002, when he moved to Watford.

He was capped ten times by England at Under-21 level. After more than 100 appearances for the Hornets he spent a season apiece with Cardiff and Millwall and was made head of the Cardiff Academy when he hung up his boots in 2007.

Powerful and experienced frontman Akinfenwa needs no introduction to Stanley fans. ‘The Beast’ once scored a hat-trick for former club Northampton at the Crown Ground.

He signed for the Dons in June 2014 after his release from Gillingham. ‘Bayo’ has been a consistent goalscorer in over a decade with clubs in the lower two tiers of the Football League. He lists Torquay, Swansea, Millwall, Northampton and the Gills among his former clubs.

He bagged 15 goals for the Dons in 47 starts last season. He is reputedly the world’s strongest footballer, being able to bench-press 180kg.

The Reds have now lost two of their last three games after a home defeat to Oxford and Saturday’s reverse to Plymouth.

The season’s previous two league defeats were followed by victories and they’ll be hoping that pattern is repeated against the Dons.

They sit sixth in the table, two points from the automatic places.

Ardley’s side were beaten 5-2 at home by Morecambe on Saturday to make it back to back defeats after they were also beaten by Oxford United.

Their last away victory came at Crawley Town in August.

They are 16^th in the current table, six points from the play-off spots and eight from the relegation zone.

John Coleman is without midfielder Matt Crooks who serves a one match suspension after picking up his fifth yellow card of the season at Plymouth.

A number of options are available to come into the side, with Andy Procter, Anthony Barry and Kaid Mohamed all amongst the subs at Home Park.

Defender Adam Buxton is unlikely to feature after withdrawing from the warm up on Saturday and there are a number of other defensive concerns.
