John Coleman says his Stanley team have what it takes to be entertainers – but are also capable of grinding out narrow wins.
The Reds travel to Barnet on Saturday looking to get back to winning ways after a defeat to Oxford ended their eight-game unbeaten run.
Coleman wants his team to score goals and have the crowd on the edge of their seats but he knows that sometimes it’s just as important to grind out a narrow victory.
“We want to be hard to beat and we don’t change our style of football away from home,” said Coleman, whose side are unbeaten in their last four games on their travels.
“I would like us to make more chances, score more goals and be entertaining but we want to win games whatever way. I don’t mind how we go about it as long as we win.
“If we need to dig out 1-0 wins then we have got a team which is capable of doing that.”
Barnet wingers Jason Puncheon and Albert Adomah have gone on to play at a higher level and Coleman says a number of his players are more than capable of doing that – not that Stanley are selling.
“Barnet have always had nippy wingers in the past and they have sold the players and got good money for them,” said the Reds boss.
“We have players here who can play at a higher level. Fortunately we don’t have to sell anyone so that shouldn’t hinder our progress in our fight for the play-offs.
“We have a good side here, with some good players, and I believe there is a lot more to come.”
Looking at head to the trip to The Hive, Coleman expects Dean Winnard to recover from injury to start for the first time in three games.
“Dean will be okay while Joe Wright is on international duty with Wales Under 21s and plays on Friday night so that’s a lot to ask,” added the Stanley manager. “Tom Davies is not far away.”
