John Coleman is expecting an entertaining clash when the Reds face League One Bury tonight in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy first round tie.

The Shakers were promoted last season but haven’t yet chalked up a win in their league campaign, despite scoring 10 goals in their five league encounters so far.

Coleman has already faced Dave Flitcroft’s side in two behind-closed-doors friendlies this season and says they have been eventful clashes.

“They are generally good games against Bury,” said Coleman. “Flicker plays an attractive style of football and it should be a good game to watch for the neutral.

“We have played two bounces games against them and they are open passing matches and hopefully we will come out on top.

“They have a big strong squad and it will be formidable opposition whichever team they play.”

Coleman will give some of his fringe players a chance to shine with the Reds having to play six first team regulars according to Johnstone’s Paint Trophy rules.

Andy Procter could make his first start of the season against his former club after an injury last season while striker Adam Morgan could make his first start for the Reds.

“It will give the opportunity for other players to stake a claim for a place,” added Coleman.

“We have got enough players pushing for starting places and selection is difficult at the moment but some players are making my selection easier with what they do on the pitch.”

Prices are £10 for adults; £5 for concessions; £2 for Under 12s. Kick off is 7.45pm and the game will go straight to penalties if it’s a draw after 90 minutes.
