After a 2014/15 season that saw them finish 12th in League Two, Northampton are now looking to improve on that and put themselves in the mix for promotion to League One.

Under the guidance of the experienced Chris Wilder, they’ve recovered from being in a relegation battle two seasons ago  and will now be looking at the other end of the table.

47 year old Wilder is currently in his fourth managerial role, after taking over as manager of the Cobblers in January 2014.

He started his managerial career at Alfreton Town and has also managed Halifax Town and Oxford United, before resigning as manager of Oxford to join the Cobblers.

Prior to being a manager, Wilder had a successful career as a full back playing for clubs including Sheffield United, Rotherham United and Halifax Town.

Northampton signed Chesterfield striker Marc Richards on a three-year contract in May 2014 after he rejected the offer of a new deal with the recently-promoted Spireites.

The Wolverhampton-born striker started his career with Blackburn Rovers from where he had loan spells at Crewe, Oldham, Halifax and Swansea. He moved onto Northampton for his first spell then Barnsley before joining Port Vale in 2007 and then Chesterfield.

Scoring 18 goals in 2014/15, Richards was named Northampton’s Player of the Season.

Stanley are unbeaten in their last two outings, with a point at Notts County adding to the home victory over Mansfield Town.

John Coleman’s side drew against Luton in their only other home league game so far and were beaten at the Wham Stadium, on penalties, by Championship side Hull City

The Cobblers have lost their last three games in all competitions including a 4-1 Capital One Cup defeat at Newcastle in midweek.

They were beaten in their last two league games, at home to Plymouth and at Barnet, but won their opening three matches of the campaign

John Coleman has the rare luxury of a full strength squad to select from with Shay McCartan and Keenan Quansah having now returned to fitness.

A number of players featured in a training game with Blackburn Rovers earlier this week and will be hoping to have pushed themselves into the picture for selection
