Stanley striker Marcus Carver has gone on loan to Conference North side Chorley and scored in their opening encounter.

The 21-year-old signed a new one-year deal with the Reds in the summer but has made the switch into non-league for a month to get some regular games.

Carver, who came through the ranks at Accrington, had already spent time on loan at the likes of Barrow, Marine, AFC Fylde and FC Halifax in his career.

“It’s my first time at Chorley and it’s great for me as I grew up in Great Harwood and am a Blackburn fan,” said Carver.  “Matt Jansen was my hero and, as he is manager of Chorley, it’s great to be working with him.

“I want to get a run of games under my belt. There are a lot of forwards at Accrington and, at 21, I don’t want to be on the bench, I want to beplaying. This is a good opportunity for me.”

Carver was off the mark immediately in Chorley’s 3-2 loss to Nuneaton on the opening day of the season.
