Stanley’s run of pre-season wins continued with a 2-0 victory at Evo Stik League side Scarborough Athletic.
Billy Kee and Josh Windass were the goalscorers as John Coleman’s men made it four victories on the spin.
A strong looking Reds side seized the early advantage through Kee, who came into the side at the last minute after trialist Jason St Juste picked up a knock in the warm up. The summer signing was on hand to snap up the opening goal from close range and put the visitors a goal up at Silver Royd.
A couple of good saves from the home goalkeeper kept it at 1-0 as both Kee and Marcus Carver saw efforts kept out with Ross Etheridge in the Stanley goal largely untroubled.
After the interval Coleman’s team had a chance to double their lead when sub Seamus Conneely went close early on before another replacement, Windass, whizzed an effort over the bar.
But the midfielder was not to be denied a goal, stepping up to score Stanley’s second from the penalty spot and ensure a 2-0 win over a Scarborough side co-managed by former Reds midfielder Bryan Hughes.
