Adam Morgan is loving life at Stanley after joining the club earlier in the summer.

The striker signed for the Reds after leaving Yeovil and admitted that he’d considered giving the game up at the age of just 21 before agreeing a deal.

Now his frame of mind is very different, with his first goals in the red shirt coming in Saturday’s friendly win at Marine.

“I’ve been getting a bit frustrated in a few of the games I’ve played,” he said. “I think my overall play has been good but I’ve just been missing the goal. To get a couple will really help. It was a great feeling to score.

“I’m loving it up here. I feel at home, the lads have made me feel part of the team straight away and I’m just looking forward to the season and hopefully making a good start.

“I needed a new start. I’m really happy that I chose Accrington for that start. There are a lot of scousers here and a lot of welcoming people and I feel like I’m friends with everyone already and a part of the club.”

Morgan is one of a number of forward options available to manager John Coleman as he prepares for the opening game of the League Two season against Luton Town.

And the former Liverpool man thinks there’s plenty of potential in the side.

“We’ve got a lot of good attacking options,” he continued. “Terry Gornell didn’t play at the weekend and we still scored four. He’s been excellent in pre-season and I know Billy (Kee) has scored a lot of goals at this level and we have some great young players too. We know that we’re part of a team and I’m sure we can all play our part.

“We’re always going to try to take the game to teams but that doesn’t mean we want to concede goals. I think you’ve seen in pre-season that our defence has the potential to be rock solid. I think Dean Winnard would rip anyone’s head off if they conceded a goal!”
