Fancy spending your summer rock-climbing, canoeing and flying through the air?
Well you can do it this year with Accrington Stanley – and also receive a £20 high street gift voucher.
Stanley’s Community Trust National Citizen Service scheme is a way for 15- 17-year-olds to make new friends, learn new skills and create memories.
NCS graduate Jonathon Braithwaite would certainly recommend it. He said: ‘‘The NCS was one of the most interesting and enjoyable experiences I have ever had. I would love to do it all over again.”
It all kicks off on Sunday 26th July with an adventure week in Wales where you can try out rock-climbing, canoeing and have a go on a giant zip wire.
Then, from Monday 3rd August to Friday 7th August, it’s another trip to live in university style accommodation in Preston which will involve learning to cook, first aid and a self-defence course among other life-skills.
The final part of the project involves working in your local community whether it’s with the elderly, children or making your area better – it’s up to you.
Stanley’s NCS Officer Lee Walsh added: “The NCS is a brilliant way for young people to have the time of their lives while learning new skills and making a massive difference to the lives of local people.
“We have had young people from all different backgrounds complete the NCS in the past and they have loved every minute of it.”
The cost of a place on the NCS course is £20 and includes transport from Accrington Stanley, food, accommodation and equipment.
