John Coleman is plotting more close season transfers as preparations continue for the new campaign at the Store First Stadium.

The pre-season programme is taking shape, the new pitch is coming along well and the manager has already tied down three new recruits to deals.

But Coley is planning to have more new faces to follow Tom Davies, Matty Pearson and Adam Morgan through the door.

“We’re not too bad numbers-wise but I’m not planning on stopping yet,” he said. “We still want to bring in two or three new players and obviously I have to sort the goalkeeping situation out which is ongoing at the moment. We’re hopeful that will be sorted soon.

“We aim to start pre-season having to not bring in a flock of trialists and trying to pad out the squad. Ideally you want to be starting pre-season with everyone knowing precisely what their role is within the squad, where we want to go and getting to know our methods as well as us getting to know the players.

“I hope the days of large numbers of trialists are over but you can never say never. That’s a difficult situation for myself and Jimmy but we also really feel for those players. When you come in with eight or nine players on trial it’s difficult to give them the time to look at them individually.

“I know myself from going on trials how difficult it is. You’re under pressure and sometimes that pressure means that you just can’t perform. I feel for lads that have to go in trial in the summer but I suppose it’s a necessary evil.”
