John Coleman expects the loan market to be slow over the summer but still anticipates players making temporary switches to Stanley.

The manager made some key loan signings upon returning to the club last season and is now turning his attention to the next group of hopefuls looking for Football League experience.

However, he’s expecting that process to take some time.

“Most clubs are waiting for their own pre-season to get under way before letting anyone out on loan so that can be a bit of a problem,” he explained.

“There are still one or two things that we are exploring in the loan market though and hopefully we can get those loans right before the season starts”

Pre-season training begins at the end of this month with friendly games beginning in early July and Coleman believes it’s a great opportunity to take a look at the youngest members of his squad.

Youthful trio Max Hazeldine, Keenan Quansah and Kealan Steenson have all agreed their first pro deals and join promising defender Liam Goulding in committing themselves to the club. The manager won’t be afraid to put them in the side early on either.

“If young players are good enough then they’ll take the chance that they are given,” he said. “It’s got nothing to do with their age. They’ll get plenty of playing time in pre-season and that will be their first chance to shine.

“They’ll also have that chance to shine every day in training. You can see people’s attitudes, you can see their appetite for the game and their willingness to work.

“Players who don’t leave anything on the training pitch tend to do the same for the real thing in the games so we’ll be looking for those young lads to make an impression with everything they do for us.”
