John Coleman has praised his Cambridge counterpart Richard Money but is hopeful of getting one over him tomorrow.

The Reds travel to the Abbey Stadium having reached the magical target of 50 points with 17th placed United, just one spot behind the Reds, three points off hitting that tally.

Coleman does have injuries and suspensions to contend with but his hopeful his side can build on their first win in nine games after they overcame Carlisle on Monday.

“Richard is a great manager and he has done great to get them up as we know how difficult it is to get out of the Conference,” said Coleman.

“It was a hard fought game at our place (a 2-1 win for Accrington) and we know it will be tough. It will be a similar type of game to Carlisle as they are a physical side and we expect to deal with an aerial bombardment.”

Cambridge had a good FA Cup run which saw them face Manchester United in the fourth round and Coleman admitted: “The cup run can be a boost but it can also turn out to be a hindrance.

“Cambridge are a better team than their league position suggests.”

The Reds boss is looking to next season now and believes he has the makings of a side who can battle for the top placings.

He said: “People who we play against us tell me we are a good side. They could be blowing hot air but they do tend to be genuine football people and we are not a million miles away from threatening at the top.

“At Christmas, we had the makings of a team who could put up a strong challenge but then we didn’t have a regular keeper and that’s  one of the reasons we why we are where we are.

“We are on 50 points but I would like to get to 60 points.”
