John Coleman will sit down with all the out-of-contract players next week and let them know if they are to be offered new deals with the Reds.

There are only ten players in contract for the new campaign – these are Dean Winnard, Josh Windass, James Gray, Terry Gornell, Andy Procter, Seamus Conneely, Matt Crooks and the three teenagers offered professional deals recently, Max Hazeldine, Keenan Quansah and Kealan Steenson.

Coleman said: “I will speak to everyone next week. I want to do it before the season ends so everyone has an idea of where we are going forward.

“We will be making some offers . I won’t be held to ransom by anyone, though. I will make an offer and if they take it in the time scale set then they do and if they don’t, they don’t.

“We know players are only interested in themselves and that’s not derogatory but I have got to focus on a lot of people and they may think that the decisions are not as urgent as I do.

“I have already got targets in mind but it is dependent on the finance. The club has been to the brink once before and we cannot go down that road again.”

Coleman admitted it is harder to go into non-league now and find the hidden gems he has in the past because of striker Jamie Vardy’s moves from Halifax to Fleetwood and onto Leicester for £1m in a short space of time.

“It does get difficult as everyone is looking for the next Jamie Vardy. It used to be £10,000 for a non-league player with sell-ons and now it’s £200,000 and it’s out of our realms, well £10,000 is as well.

“You can’t get anyone for five figures and that’s the problem so it’s now a case of looking at players who have been released by professional clubs and want to kick start their careers.

“We can  help players along and they can generally help us.”
