Goals from Terry Gornell and a stunning strike from Piero Mingoia secured Stanley a point at promotion-chasing Wycombe.

Gareth Ainsworth’s side could have gone top with victory but the Reds battled hard with keeper Scott Davies making a series of first half saves.

Wycombe skipper Paul Hayes had a great opportunity in the 12th minute when he got the ball unmarked in the area but he blazed the effort over the bar.

Matt Bloomfield was then denied by Davies as Wanderers looked for an early advantage.

Chances were limited but the home side took the lead on 30 minutes when Bloomfield’s cross found Hayes. Davies kept out his initial shot but it came out to Sam Wood who headed into the bottom corner, despite the Stanley keeper getting a hand to it.

Davies next kept out a Sam Saunders effort on 40 minutes but then, in the only minute of added time, Mingoia’s ball in was drilled home by Gornell, his third goal since his return to the Reds in February.

It was lively after the break with both sides going for it. Mingoia’s deep cross from the right caused problems for the Wycombe defence while home scorer Wood volleyed just wide from 30 yards.

Wanderers were looking for a second and, on 56 minutes, a free kick from Saunders crashed against the inside of the post and bounced out to safety.

However Mingoia made the next chance count for Stanley on the hour. He got the ball 20 yards out from Maguire’s knockdown and lashed it into the top of the net for his sixth goal of the season – a stunning strike.

Wycombe came back however in the 71st minute when a Saunders free kick found Alfie Mawson and his effort took a deflection and found the back of the net.

The home side then pressed with Wood firing just wide and Mawson’s shot was deflected off-target five minutes from the end as Stanley held firm for the point.
