The Accrington Stanley Academy are looking for a qualified/retired teacher to oversee the Academy Education programme on a part time basis.
- To organise, manage and deliver the Academy Education Programme.
- Monitor the educational progression of all Academy Players registered with the Club working closely with our education partners and providers. (League Football Education and Accrington and Rossendale College).
- Attend at all formal parent consultations on behalf of Accrington Stanley FC Academy.
- Ensure that the Academy’s educational provision reflects the strategy and performance targets identified in the Club’s Academy Performance Plan.
- Work with and to the Academy Manager to ensure the Education Programme offers the best educational opportunities to maximise the educational potential of young players.
- Manage and safely store all data related to the Educational progress of young players in line with Data Protection Legislation.
MAIN DUTIES/KEY ACTIVITIES
- To be a member of the Academy Management Team, perform functions within that role and feedback to department
- To play a key role in liaising with any partner agency involved in the Education of players.
- To manage any appropriate data-base systems related to safeguarding children in line with Data Protection Legislation.
- To respond to requests from parents, players, The Academy Manager or partner Educations Provider regarding the Educational progress of the player.
- To facilitate or deliver the Education Programme on behalf of the club.
- To facilitate the provision of a range of child protection and awareness training for all staff or volunteers in line with guidance from The Football League and Local Safeguarding Children Boards (LSCBs) and in line with The FA requirements for work with children and young people.
- To monitor progress of young players.
- Provide written reports on the educational progress of young players if required.
- To manage and support the Academy Manager in the release of any youth player if required.
- To represent the Football Club at any Education workshops or training delivered by the FA or FL or other specified training agencies.
- To attend training and demonstrate continued professional development in relation to the role of the Football Club Head of Education.
- To identify and recruit local host families for the apprentices, school boys on the day release program and potential Academy players (trialists) ensuring that all regulations with regard to minors are met.
- To manage the hosting of players and liaise with host families and lodging providers for the apprentices, school boys on day release and potential players (trialists).
- To maintain all appropriate records both internal and those required by external agencies and regulatory bodies.
- Ensure all CRB and regulatory procedures are up to date and implemented within the Academy, demonstrating best practice in the area of safeguarding the welfare of all children and young people.
- To attend meetings, conferences and other associated events as directed by the Academy Management.
Other Duties and requirements may include:
- To support a programme of football activities for young players as required by The Academy Manager this may include daytime, evenings and weekend provision.
- Guidance will be available; however a high level of initiative, decision-making and discretion will need to be demonstrated in the performance of duties.
- To ensure all duties and services provided are in accordance with health and safety requirements in the workplace. To comply with individual responsibilities, in accordance with the role, for health and safety in the workplace.
- To undertake any other reasonable duties appropriate to the grade that may be required from time to time.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
The successful Academy Head of Education will meet the minimum qualification requirements (Qualified Teacher Status) and will have gained experience of delivering educational sessions to young players at an elite level.
- This post requires work with children and young people and is subject to clearance through an Enhanced criminal bureau (CRB) check. A current FA CRB may be acceptable the applicant must be prepared to submit a CRB application if they do not hold and FA CRB Certificate.
- This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (1974) therefore all convictions including spent convictions must be declared.
- A sensitive approach to encouraging young people’s educational development.
- The Academy Head of Education must be hard working, committed, enthusiastic and willing to work unsociable hours that include evenings and weekends.
- They will possess strong communication skills and have the ability to liaise with all levels of personnel associated with a Professional Football Club Academy.
- The successful candidate will be outgoing, approachable, personable, presentable and professional in all aspects of their work aware that they are representatives of Accrington Stanley Football Club
- Full Clean UK Driving Licence.
