John Coleman is trying to find the magic winning formula for next season – but is keen to end this season on a high.

Stanley welcome play-off chasing Newport County to the Store First Stadium tonight and Coleman wants to start building up the momentum which they can take into a play-off push in the new campaign.

“Newport are in the play-offs and we have scored more goals than them but the difference is, we have conceded 20 more goals than them and this has to change,” said the Reds boss.

“We aren’t taking anything for granted this season as we still need two wins but it’s important to build up some momentum towards the end of this season.

“I am looking to a style of football than lends itself to attacking but also keeping them out at the other end as well and we are trying to find this magic formula.”

Stanley have performed better against the teams challenging at the top but have gone six games without a win and Coleman knows they need to get back to winning ways.

“We don’t fear Newport, they are a good side, but when we click we are a handful for anyone.

“However, we didn’t click in our last game against York. We didn’t play as well as we can and it was a relief when the last minute equaliser went in.

“However, I do feel in the majority of the games over the last month or so we have played well, played with passion and been wholehearted, but we haven’t always got the results we deserved.

“We have shown we can compete with the top sides but we haven’t been consistent enough defensively and our goals against column does not lie.

“I feel we owe our fans a performance and a win tonight.”
