New Stanley signing Lloyd Jones doesn’t expect his move from Liverpool to be a culture shock despite the two clubs being worlds apart.

The 19-year-old has joined on a month’s loan from the Premier League side following a similar spell at Cheltenham earlier this season.

And despite the Store First Stadium being a far cry from the facilities at one of the top flight’s leading clubs he’s relishing the chance to play some games for John Coleman’s team.

“The difference in facilities and resources doesn’t really make a difference to me,” he insisted. “I came from Plymouth, who don’t have the resources that Liverpool have so I’m used to it. It’s not a big factor for me.

“I learnt so much in just six games at Cheltenham. I went back to Liverpool and had a few games but even those tough games seemed easier for me to handle because of the experience. I’d definitely recommend going out on loan to any young player.

“Physically it’s massively different. We (Liverpool) played Everton on Monday and physically I felt bigger and stronger than the striker.

“It’s a tough league to play in but if I want to be a centre half in England then I have to deal with it. I think more games will just help me to deal with it better and better.”

Jones comes into the Stanley ranks to provide competition in the centre back position. In recent games Coleman has opted for a 3-5-2 system with Dean Winnard, Matt Crooks and Rob Atkinson in those roles and Jones is keen to learn about playing in that system.

“I’ve played in a back three for Liverpool and once at Cheltenham but I’m not that familiar with it,” he admitted. “The Liverpool first team are using it now so if I want to break into the first team there then I need to be comfortable with lots of different formations.”

He could make his debut in Stanley red away at League leaders Burton Albion this weekend but doesn’t feel overawed by the prospect of making his bow at the Pirelli Stadium.

“I saw that Accrington beat Burton the other week so we’ll be looking to do it again now,” he said. “It’ll be a tough debut but I may as well come in with a bang and be in at the deep end!”
