Sub Shay McCartan went to top of the Stanley scoring charts with his sixth goal of the season after the Friday night draw with relegation-haunted Cheltenham.
McCartan had only been on the pitch three minutes when he got on the end of Piero Mingoia’s cross in the 59th minute and fired home from 12 yards.
Stanley were looking to make it three wins on the trot but had to settle for a point despite Josh Windass coming close late on.
John Coleman kept an unchanged side from the team who overcame promotion-chasing Southend on Saturday.
Stanley started well playing a number of dangerous crosses into the box while a Gerardo Bruna free kick on 15 minutes wasn’t far off the target.
It was all Stanley with former Real Madrid trainee Bruna using his skills to get past the Town defence and his low cross was cleared almost on the goalline.
However, Cheltenham went straight up the other end and took the lead on 31 minutes. A cross from Matt Richards found the head of Wes Burns and he looped the ball over Scott Davies for his fifth goal of the campaign.
Stanley continued to press but couldn’t take their chances and they suffered a blow just before half-time when experienced right back Nicky Hunt limped off with Kal Naismith replacing him, prompting a reshuffle.
Town were the more dangerous side just after the break and Burns raced into the area, drawing out Davies but, with the ball was loose in the area it was eventually thumped to safety.
With the visitors getting on top, Coleman brought on his second substitution on 56 minutes with McCartan replacing Seamus Conneely.
And he had only been on the pitch three minutes when Stanley broke quickly and a Mingoia cross found McCartan who finished superbly.
Stanley were then on top with Bruna racing clean through but his touch let him down as the Town defence got back to clear.
Windass also had a go from distance and wasn’t far off while the midfielder was denied by keeper Trevor Carson from close range in the final 10 minutes as the game finished all-square.
