Stanley boss John Coleman aims to upset league leaders Burton Albion tonight – and then doesn’t mind if they go on to clinch promotion.

Coleman admits to having a soft spot for the Brewers who battled in non-league days with Stanley before both reached the promised land of the Football League.

Burton, under former Chelsea hero Jimmy Floyd-Hasselbaink, now sit at the top of the table while the Reds are eyeing a charge up the league.

“I like Burton as a club,” sad Coleman. “Today I won’t but in the main they are a club with good people running it, they are a well-established club that has made the transition from non-league into the Football League the way it should be done.

“Jimmy had inherited a decent squad (from Gary Rowett) that was challenging at the top end of the table and, to be fair, he has done well and carried it on.

“He is obviously a good manager and knows his stuff. To make your first start as a manager in English football with a club that’s got a great infrastructure, a lovely ground and a fantastic training ground, I can’t see too many people who would complain at that.”

Stanley are looking to make it four games unbeaten – although Friday’s 1-1 draw with Cheltenham still hurts.

“It’s just the disappointment of only getting one point at home, whoever you play,” continued the Reds boss. “We did enough in the game to win it. We’ve just got to try to learn from our mistakes.

“Every time we play at home we’ve got to believe we can win and we’ve got to go out and try to win.”

And Coleman is hoping the fans once again keep singing throughout the game as they did on Friday.

“Every time we play away we try to win so it doesn’t alter, but we’ve got to try to enthuse the fans to get behind us,” he added.

“The fans who came on Friday were great and in the main this season they’ve been fantastic.

“We’ve just got to hope we give them something to sing about.”
