Tom Aldred admits it will be weird coming up against former Stanley team-mate Lee Molyneux tomorrow – and knows to beware the winger’s left foot.
Molyneux was with the Reds on loan up until a week ago but has now signed for Tranmere from Crewe until the end of the season, following his release from the Railwaymen.
And he will face his former team-mates immediately with Stanley travelling to Prenton Park tomorrow.
“Obviously we know both Lee and Kayode Odejayi who was on loan with us last season and both are very good on their day and effective,” said defender Aldred, 24.
“We have to hope they both have an off day and we will have to stop them.
“I suppose it will be stranger coming up against Moly, especially as he set up my goal in the last game we played at Exeter.
“We know all about his left foot but that’s football and players do move on.”
Aldred is hoping the Reds come out all guns blazing against second-bottom Tranmere after their home game against Bury was postponed last Friday night.
“With Burton and Bury postponed, the Christmas and New Year period hasn’t been as busy as normal but now we have to just prepare for the next fixtures and crack on,” said Aldred.
“Hopefully we will be refreshed and ready to go and not rusty and the rest will have done us good.”
Stanley are looking up the table at the top seven spots and Aldred, who has played 91 consecutive games for the Reds, is confident they can get there.
Stanley are six points off the promotion places but have played fewer games than the teams above them.
“We do have two games in hand and, if we win them both, then we will really make ground on people ahead of us.
“Tranmere will be a tricky game tomorrow. They have a good fan base and are a good club and I do not think they will finish the season where they are at the moment.
“But for us, we have done well away from home this season and we will be looking to build on that.”
