Will Hatfield has enjoyed a successful start to his loan spell with FC Halifax Town.

The midfielder made his debut – playing 72 minutes – as the Shaymen beat Alfreton Town 2-0 on Saturday before playing the full 90 of their 1-0 victory against Forest Green Rovers to leave them just one point away from the play-off places.

Their next match is the long trip to Torquay, where Town will look to pick up their third successive victory.

It has been a tough week for the rest of Stanley’s loan stars, though, with none of the trio on the winning side in a combined total of five matches.

George Bowerman’s Stourbridge lost a second successive league game as Buxton outclassed the Midlanders to record a 4-1 victory on Saturday afternoon.

The striker was substituted after 70 minutes but played the duration of the Doodson Sport Cup second round tie against Leek Town last night as Stourbridge crashed out on penalties.

The Reds led 1-0 heading into the injury time but a late equaliser sent the match to a shoot-out. Although Bowerman scored his penalty, his team lost 4-2 on spot-kicks.

The Glassmen will look to bounce back and resurrect their league campaign at the weekend, but face a tough task as table-topping Skelmersdale United come to town.

Elsewhere, Andrew Dawber was also on the losing side at the weekend as Clitheroe suffered their first home defeat in the league since August, going down by a single goal against Mossley.

The goalkeeper was again in impressive form for the Blues, making a number of good saves, but was unable to prevent Andrew Keogh from netting the winner just after half-time.

Clitheroe are without a league fixture on Saturday due to Warrington Town’s participation in the FA Cup, so their next game is away at Bamber Bridge in the quarter finals of the Lancashire FA Challenge Trophy on Tuesday evening.

Meanwhile, Liam Goulding played the full 90 minutes in defence for Belper Town during their crunch clash with Marine down at the wrong end of the EvoStik Northern Premier Division.

The Derbyshire outfit looked set for a victory would would have seen them leapfrog their opponents and move off the bottom, but James Foley scored a late equaliser to draw the game 2-2, leaving them rooted to the foot of the table.

There was no respite in the Doodson Sport Cup for the Yellows on Tuesday evening as they lost 1-0 at home to in-form Ilkeston to fall out of the competition in the second round with Goulding again starting in a back three.

The Nailers travel to Trafford this weekend looking for a result to get them out of the relegation zone and give their season a shot in the arm before hosting Gresley in the Derbyshire Senior Cup on Tuesday night.
