Stanley returned to winning ways in midweek against Notts County in the FA Cup and now the emphasis turns to taking three league points against Cambridge United.

After league defeat at Carlisle last weekend the Reds return to League Two with a climb towards the play-off places still at the forefront of their minds.

Cambridge head north in their first season back in the Football League looking to pick up a third successive win as they also aspire to a top seven spot.

New loan signing Matt Crooks could make his Stanley debut after completing a loan move from Huddersfield Town yesterday.

John O’Sullivan and Sean Maguire could both return after being ineligible for the FA Cup and Anthony Barry has returned to training following injury.

Nicky Hunt only made the bench in midweek after turning his ankle at Carlisle but is back in contention to start.

Cambridge United were promoted from the Conference last season and have made a great start to life in League Two.

It’s their first spell back in the Football League following relegation back in 2005 which also came hand in hand with a spell in administration.

Under the management of Richard Money they secured their return and currently sit tenth in the table.

Richard Money

Richard Money joined the U’s in October 2012 replacing Martin Ling as head coach.

Money has a wealth of experience not just in English football, but also had a spell managing in Sweden and Australia with AIK and Newcastle Sydney Jets.

As a player, the 59-year-old played for Scunthorpe United, Fulham, Liverpool, Derby County, Luton and Portsmouth before finishing his playing days back where it all began with the Iron.

Kwesi Appiah

Crystal Palace striker Appiah played at Cambridge last season and boss Richard Money brought him back this season until January.

It was while playing for Margate that Appiah caught Palace’s eye, as he netted 35 goals in just 34 games.

This will only be the third meeting between the sides with both of the previous games coming back in 2005/06.

Both teams won one game in that campaign, with the U’s running out 3-1 winners at the Abbey Stadium and Stanley winning the home game 1-0 thanks to a goal from Ian Craney.

Stanley returned to winning ways in midweek against Notts County following defeat at Carlisle at the weekend.

John Coleman’s team have lost just one of their last seven home games.

Cambridge arrive on the back of two consecutive wins, against Northampton in the league and Fleetwood Town in the FA Cup.
