Accrington Stanley Community Trust would like to announce the launch of our new Football Development Centres, looking to help children progress, enjoy and take part in the “beautiful game”.
The centres cater for children of all abilities from age 4 through to 12 years old. The sessions are based on the FA’s four corner model (technical, physical, psychological, social) to help develop players FUNdamental techniques, along with skills they can utilise outside of sport in their everyday lives. Accrington Stanley FC’s Academy coaches will also be in attendance from time to time to see if they can spot the next “Connor Mahoney” or “Marcus Carver”.
Our sessions are for one hour in the Sports Hall at Accrington Academy every Monday night during term time and split into age groups to aid learning and development. Our centre, being on a Monday night, also allow for children to still attend grassroots club sessions during the rest of the week. Each age groups and times are as follows:
5:30pm – 6:30pm: 4 – 6 year olds
6:30pm – 7:30pm: 7 – 9 year olds
7:30pm – 8:30pm: 10 – 12 year olds
Each session is only £3.50 for an hour’s football if you turn up on the night, and only £3 per session if you book the full course online!
Sport Development Officer Chris Mullen explains “we wanted to bring together all our football courses into one night. With our Little Kickers session running on a Saturday morning for 2-4 year olds, these centres provide the next progression through football, meaning the children have a clear development path from the age of 2 all the way up to 12 years old with us here at the Community Trust”.
Accrington Stanley Community Trust courses provide provision for hundreds of children every year and offer young players the opportunity to learn, develop and achieve each and every day.
