Two of Stanley’s home grown youngsters are to continue their development with loan spells in non-league football.

Goalkeeper Andrew Dawber is returning to Evo Stik First Division North side Clitheroe on a two month loan deal.

The 19-year-old, who has made six appearances for the Stanley first team after coming through the youth system at the Store First Stadium, spent time at Shawbridge earlier last season.

“It’s vital for his development that he plays,” said Stanley boss John Coleman. “I feel for any young keeper who sits on the bench for a whole season because although there’s a chance to do a lot of theory work and training they don’t really get much chance to do a lot of practical.

“It’s very difficult to replicate the match situation and young keepers like Andrew can only get the experience by being exposed to first team football. You learn from your mistakes and I think that can be a big factor for players going out on loan.

“Andrew and Luke Simpson are both good lads, good players and both have a good appetite for the game. That’s half the battle. Now we want to get Andrew playing games and we believe he’ll come back a better prospect than when he left.”

Meanwhile, striker James Jenkins has extended his loan period at fellow Evo Stik Division One North side Padiham for a further two months.

The 18-year-old has spent the last month at the Arbories, scoring twice in six appearances.

“Playing games and scoring goals and the experience of men’s football is a big boost for Jenks and Padiham can currently give him games and aid his development, “added Coleman.

“It’s the same thing that we have to sell to Premier League or Championship clubs – providing opportunities for players to play games.”

Subject to Evo Stik League ratification the pair could play tonight with Clitheroe hosting Prescot Cables and Padiham making the trip to Lancaster City.
