Supporters may have become aware over the last 24 hours of a winding up order issued against the club to be heard in the High Court on Monday.
Accrington Stanley would like to make clear that this is purely procedural and concerns a payment which has already been settled.
“This order concerns a payment due in early July that was paid off shortly after the date it was issued,” said Stanley Chairman Peter Marsden. “All orders that have been issued remain on the court record and that’s what this one is still appearing in the listings.
“The summer is the toughest time for any football club with football based revenues very low but the club moved to pay the debt to HMRC as quickly as possible and this was done within a few days.
“I’d like to reassure supporters that like any small business there are peaks and troughs in our finances but all payments are made as soon as possible and Directors and staff go to extraordinary lengths to ensure that all financial matters are up to date.”
