JAMES Beattie admits he has full admiration for Luton Town boss John Still – but it’s all about Accrington getting one over the experienced manager tomorrow.

Beattie said he got to know former Barnet and Dagenham boss Still during his stint with BT Sport last season and has respect for the manager who has won the Conference three times, taking the Hatters up last season.

However, after three League Two losses, it’s all about the Stanley players for Beattie and he is confident that they will get that first win soon.

“Luton did tremendously well last year,” said the Reds chief. “I worked with John Still on BT Sport and he is a football man through and through.

“Luton are back in the Football League and they have their history and get really good gates, which I am quite envious of, but I am concentrating on Accrington Stanley and all I am bothered about is our results.

“We will give Luton the respect they deserve but if we do the right stuff at the right time then I am in no doubt what the outcome will be – we just have to do it.”

Beattie says all is calm at the Store First Stadium and no one is panicking despite their disappointing start to the new campaign.

“We are only three league games in and no one is pressing the big red button yet, I am certainly not,” said the Stanley boss.

“I have the belief in myself and the players. This is a great group of lads, they are very good players and it’s my job to pick them up after the defeat to Shrewsbury.

“They believe in the methods I am trying to implement here and what I am trying to do. The environment is good, they enjoy coming to work and they believe in what I am doing – everyone is  singing from same hymn seat which is vitally important.

“We want to get that first win and we know from last season that the longer it goes on, the more anxious the players will get – but we know it will come.”
