Adam Buxton is returning to Stanley after signing a one year contract with the club.
The full back, who was a big success during a loan spell at the Store First Stadium last season, has made the switch permanent following his release by Wigan Athletic.
“I’m delighted to be back,” said the 22-year-old. “Obviously I came here for two months last season on loan and enjoyed it massively. When the gaffer spoke to me in the summer about coming back it was a no brainer really. We’ve had time off and I’ve enjoyed that but I’m just raring to get going now.
“All the lads are looking sharp and we’ve had a couple of good results and performances in pre-season so far.”
Buxton has featured in Stanley’s opening two pre-season games against New Mills and Nelson and will now continue preparations for the new campaign with his team mates.
Manager James Beattie has been keen to secure Buxton’s return and is happy to have got his man.
“Adam Buxton is a tremendous player and I am delighted to secure his services,” said Beattie. “There were a lot of other teams looking at him but he liked what he saw here last season.
“He knows it is a great club for him to showcase his skills. Adam is a talented young player, he is quiet off the pitch but tough on it. He is as hard as nails and goes into challenges full-bloodied but he is always fair. He is a great addition for us.”
