A historic FA Youth Cup run was the highlight of the Stanley Youth Team’s campaign in the 2013/14 season.

Stanley’s FA Youth Cup campaign saw them stride past Carlisle and Ilkeston in the opening stages of the competition before conducting two monumental giant killings against West Ham and Bristol City’s respective Youth teams in front of the home crowd at the StoreFirst Stadium.

A long away trip to Reading in the fifth round proved a step too far for the team against a quality opposition boasting numerous players with national caps at youth level.

Reading won 3-0 on the night, but when you consider that Reading went on to beat Liverpool in the sixth round before crashing out to Fulham in the semi’s, Stanley even reaching that stage of the competition becomes a truly extraordinary achievement.

Unfortunately for Stanley, the Youth Alliance proved a tougher stage for them to collect results from, winning five of their 24 games and drawing another eight including a final day 1-1 draw against Macclesfield Town.
