James Beattie has no new absentees ahead of this weekend’s game with Northampton Town at the Store First Stadium after virtually a full strength squad trained this afternoon.
Defender Adam Buxton, who was replaced at half time in last weekend’s win over Exeter with a rib injury, has recovered and took part in the session.
“The lads have to report injuries – obviously we have a system of doing that and (physio) Paul Morgan has been working miracles this season to be honest,” said manager James Beattie. “He’s been excellent, getting players back fit for us and back playing.”
Beattie confirmed that there are only two definite absentees for this weekend’s game, with encouraging news on their progress too.
“I think Laurence Wilson wanted to train today but because of his history with injuries we’ve had to just hold him back for a week or so, maybe another week of strengthening or something,” he explained.
“Marcus Carver had his operation and was training and then did his medial knee ligament but other than that we’re looking alright.
“Over the last six weeks we’ve had to manage their energy and the lads are very fit and it’s just a case of making sure they are game ready. We talk about what we think the players need on a daily basis and the rest is as important if not more important than the work. We have to keep them ticking over and make sure they are ready physically and mentally.”
