Stanley assistant manager Paul Stephenson doesn’t believe that the club’s gruelling travel schedule will affect their performances this week.
The Reds face a 250 mile trip to face Dagenham and Redbridge tomorrow before heading to Devon to take on Exeter at the weekend.
The team set off for Essex earlier today and will spend the night in a hotel before taking to the field at Victoria Road and Stephenson believes that will make all the difference.
“Because of the way we’re doing it I don’t think the travelling will have too much effect,” he explained. “We’ve got our legs back very well from other long trips.
“We won’t train in the mornings this week, we’ll give them a couple of lie-ins and train a little bit later in the afternoon. I think we’ll be fine.
“We can’t worry about Exeter, Dagenham and Redbridge is the next one and it’s important we go there with a lot of energy because you need energy to win games.”
Stanley are unbeaten in two matches but face a Daggers team who haven’t tasted defeat this month and are in a comfortable position in the top half of the table.
But Stephenson feels the Reds will make it hard for their hosts as they look to continue a productive March.
“Despite having a couple of great away performances against two of the top teams in the division (Burton and Rochdale), the bottom line is we didn’t pick anything up.
“We’ve got to take those performances and be dogged and pick up results, because that’s what it’s about at this time of year.
“Our first challenge is to beat last season’s points total (54 points) – that’s what we’ve said and we’re well on our way to that, but we want to go beyond that if we can.
“Let’s get there first though, that’s our first target but we’ve got our own personal targets that we feel aren’t unrealistic, they’re attainable. The lads know that, and they’ve got their own. They’re not content with just wanting to stay in the division, they want to try to get in the top half of the table and show that there has been progress.”
