Accrington Stanley Community Trust got into the spirit of Sport Relief by visiting Broadfield Specialist School last Friday.

Sports Development Officer Chris Mullen, Women & Girls Officer Amy Bland along and two of our second year Futsal Scholars, Brandon Cocker and Kieran Ainscough (along with a surprise visit from Winstanley himself!) brought the Community Trust’s giant inflatable penalty shootout for all the kids (and teachers!) to have a go at. Each child got 3 tries at the shootout in Winstanley, and where more than a match for him!  It was the main attraction of Broadfield’s sport participation day, organised by PE Teacher Sam Emmett, in order to get everyone active and in turn raise money for charitable causes across the world and the UK through Sport Relief. Sport Development Officer Chris Mullen explained “it’s fantastic to be a part of sport relief events in our local community and to be able to provide our penalty shootout inflatable day to local schools and give Winstanley a trip out, especially here at Broadfield, where we have been given a thoroughly warm welcome from everyone! The kids have been thoroughly enthusiastic and especially enjoyed the surprise of Winstanley walking in during their morning assembly”.
