This weekend Stanley’s Youth side will hope to return to league action with a bang after not playing a competitive match since the FA Youth Cup defeat away to Reading on the 12th February.

The young Reds will travel to the seaside to take on a Blackpool side who are in fine form this season and currently sit top of the Youth Alliance table. The Tangerines have lost only once in the 18 league games they’ve played and are unbeaten in 2014.

Impressive league wins against Burnley (2-0), Fleetwood (5-0) and Preston (6-1) as well as a 2-2 draw against Wigan leave the side flying high in the New Year as they look to try and secure the youth Alliance crown.

Stanley themselves are unbeaten in their last six league games and will be hoping to kick on in the league now that a historic run in the FA Youth Cup has come to an end.

The Red’s last three league games show an impressive 5-1 victory over Preston North End sandwiched between 1-1 draws on the road against Burnley and Wigan Athletic.

Stanley have met Blackpool twice already this season, once in the league and also in the LFA Professional Youth Cup. On both occasions the Tangerine’s ran out winners, securing a 4-2 victory in the league and a 4-1 result in the cup.

The Stanley youngsters will hope it’s a case of third time lucky against Blackpool as they hope to secure what would be an impressive three points in their attempted ascent up the table.

Stanley currently sit 10th, with Blackpool in 1st but the Reds could climb as high as 7th with a win providing other results go their way.

The game is an 11am kick-off.
