History
The club was formed in 1887 and joined the Southern League in 1896. They competed in the Southern Leagues Second Division until 1908, when they joined the Great Western Suburban League.
The club then joined the Spartan League in 1919 and were crowned champions in successive years. In 1921 the club then moved in to the Isthmian League and stayed there for over 60 years, until they moved in to the Alliance Premier League in 1985.
During the clubs time in the Isthmian League they won the league title on seven separate occasions. The club was then relegated after only one season in the Alliance Premier League but gained promotion to the newly named Vauxhall Conference the following season, after winning the Isthmian League title for the eighth time.
The club then gained promotion to the football league in the 1992/93 season, before achieving back to back promotions, after beating Preston North End 4-2 in the play-off final at Wembley.
The club was then relegated back to League Two at the end of the 2003/04 season, before gaining automatic promotion back to League One at the end of the 2008/09 season. The 2008/09 season started a remarkable four seasons for the club, with the Chairboys achieving two promotions and two relegations during this period.
The club finished last season in 15th place in League Two.
Something You Might Not Know About Them…
The club reached the semi-finals of the FA Cup in the 2000/01 season. Along the way to reaching the semi-finals the Chairboys defeated Grimsby Town, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Wimbledon and Leicester City. Wycombe then played Liverpool in the semi-final at Villa Park and suffered a 2-1 defeat.
Manager
Gareth Ainsworth
40 year old Ainsworth is currently in his first full time managerial role at the Chairboys, after taking over at the club in 2012. Prior to joining Wycombe, Ainsworth also had two separate spells as caretaker manager of Queens Park Rangers.
Ainsworth also had a successful playing career, making over 500 appearances in his career, at clubs including Queens Park Rangers, Preston North End and Lincoln City.
One to Watch
Stuart Lewis
26 year old Lewis signed for the Chairboys in 2011 from Dagenham and Redbridge, after a successful loan spell and has so far made over 100 appearances for the club.
Lewis started his career at Tottenham Hotspur before moving on to several other clubs, including Barnet, Gillingham and Stevenage.
The Ground
The Chairboys currently play at Adams Park. They moved to the ground in 1990 after previously playing at Loakes Park for 95 years. The current capacity of Adams Park is 10,284 and the record inside the ground is 10,000, which was set against Chelsea in 2005.
The record attendance that the Chairboys have ever achieved was 15,850, which was set against St Albans City at Loakes Park in 1950.

There have been eleven previous meetings between the sides and the head-to-head record is dead level, with both sides having four wins to their name and three draws.
The last game was in November when Peter Murphy’s last gasp goal gave the Reds a 1-1 draw at the Store First Stadium.
Stanley’s last visit to Adams Park saw them run out 1-0 winners thanks to Lee Molyneux.
Wycombe have had a poor season so far, currently sitting in 22nd place in the League Two table.
They have won three, drawn three and lost eight of their 14 home league matches so far this season.
Stanley have won their last two away games, at Bristol Rovers and Cheltenham, and five of their last seven.
James Beattie’s men are currently 18th in the League Two table, three points clear of the relegation places and just four points from the top half.
Steven Craig could return for the home side after serving a three match suspension.
Forwards Jon-Paul Pittman and Dean Morgan are also back in contention after returning to training following injury.
James Beattie could name another unchanged side with no new injuries reported in the squad ahead of the game.
