Goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli has rejoined Accrington Stanley from Fulham on a loan deal until 30th January.

The 21-year-old was recalled from his previous spell at the Store First Stadium on Christmas Day and has been on the bench for the Cottagers in their recent Premier League matches.

Now he’s on his way back and looking forward to adding to his 19 appearances this season.

“When I got called back I went in and saw the gaffer and the goalkeeping coach and said that as soon as the other lads got back fit I’d like to get back out,” he explained. “I enjoyed playing the games and being at the club and we’ve got a great team chemistry at the moment and have worked extremely hard to get out of the bottom two.

“It was weird for me to not be there. I’ve become really close with the lads so I’ll always look out for them and see what they are doing and because I knew I might be coming back I just wanted the lads to get the results and get us up the table.

“I enjoyed my time being back with the Fulham first team and being on the bench but I’m happy to be coming back to play games at Accrington.”

“It’s a huge boost to myself and the club,” said Stanley manager James Beattie. “Since Marcus initially came in he’s been magnificent and he’s a very professional young man who I’m delighted to have back at the club.”
