Following a fantastic FA Youth Cup win midweek, this Saturday sees Stanley’s Youth side return to league action with a tasty local derby away to Burnley.
The two sides have already met this year and Stanley ran out 1-0 winners on that occasion, Max Hazeldine getting the goal and the Reds will hope they can complete the double this weekend.
Stanley are currently in fantastic form, boasting an unbeaten run of 5 games which contains 3 wins over Carlisle, Morecambe and Ilkeston respectively. Burnley on the other hand come into the game with 2 defeats in as many games, a 3-1 league defeat to Bury last week and a 2-1 defeat to Oldham previous to that.
A win for 11th placed Stanley would see them pull level on points with their opponents Burnley, who currently sit 7thin the Youth Alliance table.
The game is an 11am kick-off at Burnley’s Gawthorpe Training Ground (off Burnley Road, Padiham) and with the first team hosting Torquay in a 3pm kick-off, why not make it a Stanley double header and watch the history making Youth Side to see what all the fuss is about.
Don’t worry if you can’t make the game though, we’ll have minute by minute updates through the official youth team twitter, @ASFCyouth.
