This Saturday Stanley’s Youth side play host to Wigan Athletic at the Store First Stadium. (11am k.o.)

The Reds were on the wrong end of an unfortunate 1-0 defeat away to Preston last week, where only a penalty could split the sides in a tightly fought contest.

Stanley will look back to their last home game vs Burnley for their confidence boost where they ran out 1-0 winners against a very good and well set-up Burnley side.  Max Hazeldine was the difference in that game and he’ll no doubt be raring to go against the Latics on Saturday.

Wigan like Stanley come into the game in indifferent form. An eight goal thriller last week against Bury finished 4-4 and before that they picked up a convincing 3-1 home win vs Carlisle.

A win for Stanley would see them leapfrog Lancashire rivals Wigan and potentially move as high as 7th if all other results go in their favour. Stanley currently sit 14th in the league with Wigan five places higher in 9th. This year’s league is extremely tight with only 4 points separating Tranmere in 6th and Stanley in 14th.

So whether you’re heading to Morecambe or not, come and support the youth team at the Store First Stadium. If you can’t make it down, live match updates will be available on twitter through our official twitter profile, @ASFCyouth.
