Young Stanley keeper Andrew Dawber is relishing the opportunity to play first team football during his loan spell with Clitheroe.
The 18-year-old has played three times for the Evo Stik First Division North since making the month long switch and has seen his new side win twice. He also picked up the Man of the Match award on his debut.
“I’m really enjoying it,” he said. “It’s a good standard of football, very physical and very direct and because it’s league football and the teams are playing for points it’s competitive and the players are battling for every point.
“You have to work hard to get the points and you know you’ve worked hard when you come off the pitch!”
Dawber is with the Shawbridge outfit for at least another couple of weeks and he’s looking to learn as much as he can in his time at the club.
“Hopefully we can push on in the next few weeks,” he explained. “I’m loving the fact that you have to be ready and on the ball Saturday and then Tuesday.
“You have to concentrate and I need to learn and develop every aspect of my game; decision making, the importance of not giving the ball away cheaply, communication. It’s exactly what I need and I’m enjoying it.”
