Stanley defender Tom Aldred is backing his team mates to pick up where they left off with their performance at AFC Wimbledon and take three points for the first time this season against Oxford United.

The Reds host the U’s at the Store First Stadium tomorrow having taken a point at Kingsmeadow despite being reduced to ten men for more than 45 minutes.

And Aldred feels that the resilience shown in that game will be crucial going forward.

“At the end of last season when I joined the club the clean sheets and the ability to stay in games was pivotal,” he said. “If you keep yourselves in the game then at this level there are always going to be chances and I think it’s just a matter of time now before we take those chances and beat somebody, maybe even three or four.

“It’s a young side but we are all pulling together and pulling in the same direction. There’s nothing to fear in this league as far as I’m concerned. I guarantee that by Christmas we’ll be looking up the table at where we can go and not behind us at where we’ve been.

“We’re all in it together and even the lads that haven’t played are still in the right frame of mind, their heads are up and we’re all prepared to fight for each other.

“We all think that the togetherness will show through, those little things that haven’t been going our way will go our way and the results will turn. We are a good side and we’ve showed that even with ten men we can look a threat offensively.

“The fans make a big difference too. We know they’ll stick with us til the death in games and from a football point of view, as a player, to have that is just brilliant. Hopefully that support can continue, we can get the atmosphere going at home and we can get off the bottom of the league table in no time. I have no doubt about that.”
